01
Accessibility is product quality
Treating a11y as a late audit creates expensive rework. Contrast, focus order, and labels are design and engineering decisions from the first component.
Teams that bake checks into review catch issues while they are still cheap to fix.
02
Start with the paths that matter
You do not need perfect coverage on day one. Prioritize primary flows: signup, checkout, core dashboard tasks.
Keyboard traversal and screen-reader smoke tests on those paths already raise the floor dramatically.
03
Make the bar visible
Add a short accessibility section to your PR and design review templates. What was checked? What is deferred?
Visible standards change behavior faster than a policy document no one opens.
